Tropical Storm Tomas

While I was gone Tropical Storm Tomas was born . Tomas is the 19th storm of the 2010-2011 Hurricane Season.

Let me state here that this has far surpassed what my personal thoughts were for the season ..however..former Real Wx Services members Carlos E De Vasconcellos completely nailed the forecast. Even though he is no longer a member of the group ..I feel compelled to mention his complete accuracy on the forecast that he placed while he was with R.W.S.

Now back to Tropical Storm Tomas.

As long as Tomas can avoid Haiti..then this system has the chances to become a Hurricane because the conditions surrounding it are quite favorable.

Shear is light at about 10 knots..divergence and convergence is good and there is no dry air that at the present time can effect this system.  If the system can vertically stack the low level center and mid level center before it makes any interaction with land we should be able to achieve Cat 1 hurricane status.
