April 6th Severe Weather Potential

The potential exists for severe weather tomorrow across the region. The best chances for severe weather will be across PA into NY.

A cold front is going to be moving thru the region this evening but then return as a warm front tomorrow. To the south of this front is where severe potential can be realized. That front will act as the dividing line between very warm air and cooler air.

Dewpoints in the warm sector should be in the 50s and 60s with CAPE levels of around 500-1000 and Lift index around –2 to –4. Bulk shear looks to be around 30-40 KT…

This should be significant enough to cause thunderstorms to break out across the region with the daytime heating. These storms could potentially contain damaging wind gusts as well as small to large hail. As the daytime heating diminishes so will any thunderstorms and severe potential.
