Severe Weather Outlook Discussion for the 12th Of August.. In the severe zone it is going to be a very hot day across that part of the region with temperatures mainly in the 90s and 100s.. http://www.twisterdata.com/data/models/nam/221/maps/2012/08/12/00/NAM_221_2012081200_F18_TMPF_2_M_ABOVE_GROUND.png ... Convective Available Potential Energy will be between 500-3500 depending on where you are... http://www.twisterdata.com/data/models/nam/221/maps/2012/08/12/00/NAM_221_2012081200_F24_CAPE_SURFACE.png .. Lift index is from 0 to - 6 with the greatest of the lift NE of ATX..http://www.twisterdata.com/data/models/nam/221/maps/2012/08/12/00/NAM_221_2012081200_F24_PLI_30_0_MB_ABOVE_GROUND.png ... SHEAR will be generally 30-40 knots .. http://www.twisterdata.com/data/models/nam/221/maps/2012/08/12/00/NAM_221_2012081200_F24_SHRM_500_MB.png .. HELICITY is not really an issue at all .. http://www.twisterdata.com/data/models/nam/221/maps/2012/08/12/00/NAM_221_2012081200_F24_HLCY_3000_M_ABOVE_GROUND_0_M_ABOVE_GROUND.png .. Energy Helicity Index is greatest over Far North Central/East TX and into OK.. http://www.twisterdata.com/data/models/nam/221/maps/2012/08/12/00/NAM_221_2012081200_F24_EHI_3000_M.png ... This is the region where we would place a 2 % chance of tornado's.. For Majority of the day its going to be dry across the TX region and it will not be till evening when that region will have a chance at some severe weather potential with a cold front dropping down from the NW ..This front will be the trigger across that region. http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/94fwbgus.gif Further north it will be an impulse of energy dropping SE from the Dakotas.. Temperatures in the TX region will not be dropping behind this front as they are still in the 90s to 100's 24 hrs. later.. However locations around OK will be cooler with the southern Half in the 90s yet but northern parts in the 80s..
