usa62

Discussion for 8/2/12 .. It seems as if the central part of the USA into the north central region is not really able to get a break when it comes to the temperature department and today is going to be no different. Temperatures are going to be from 80 to the 90s.. http://www.twisterdata.com/data/models/nam/221/maps/2012/08/02/00/NAM_221_2012080200_F18_TMPF_2_M_ABOVE_GROUND.png .. Dew Point will be in the 60-70 degree range.. http://www.twisterdata.com/data/models/nam/221/maps/2012/08/02/00/NAM_221_2012080200_F24_DPTF_2_M_ABOVE_GROUND.png .. Convective Available Potential Energy will be anywhere from 500-4000 depending on where you are located.. http://www.twisterdata.com/data/models/nam/221/maps/2012/08/02/00/NAM_221_2012080200_F24_CAPE_SURFACE.png ... Lift index will be 0 to negative 7 depending on where you are located.. http://www.twisterdata.com/data/models/nam/221/maps/2012/08/02/00/NAM_221_2012080200_F24_PLI_30_0_MB_ABOVE_GROUND.png... Shear into the SE will be minimal but in the rest of the area it will be between 30-50 knots.. http://www.twisterdata.com/data/models/nam/221/maps/2012/08/02/00/NAM_221_2012080200_F24_SHRM_500_MB.png ... EHI is highest across ARK and Missouri.. http://www.twisterdata.com/data/models/nam/221/maps/2012/08/02/00/NAM_221_2012080200_F24_EHI_3000_M.png Helicity is pretty much a non factor however.. http://www.twisterdata.com/data/models/nam/221/maps/2012/08/02/00/NAM_221_2012080200_F24_HLCY_3000_M_ABOVE_GROUND_0_M_ABOVE_GROUND.png .. At the surface... http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/93fwbgus.gif .. Stationary front across the southeast and a myriad of fronts across the northern part of the USA with impulses of energy travelling along these fronts. Main threats today will be Wind and Hail..despite the EHI being high in ARK and Missouri the helicity is lacking so over all tornado threat will be less then 2 % ..
