March 16-17 Rainfall

We have been talking about it for a couple days and how another area of low pressure would be gathering over the Southwest and moving off towards the region to deliver another round of rain to the area.

Low pressure which is currently over Northern Mississippi will actually lift North Northeast to a position over NE indiana by Tuesday evening 8 PM. Overnight tuesday into the early morning hours another area of low pressure will develop along the cold front. This scenario should almost sound familiar and then this area of low pressure will move NE across SNJ and Long Island and provide the area with another round of rainfall.

At the present time it still appears as if 1 inch of rain will be the maximum amount that would fall..while this will aggravate some of the flooded areas it does not appear that a flood watch is going to be warranted at this point and time.

After this system moves thru ..the weather will begin to calm down and dry out. Ridging should build in along and over the east coast and this will send the temperatures over the first part of the weekend into the 60s and 70s.

With this ridging in place ..any systems would be forced to cut well to the west or travel along the US/Canadian border and swing any associated fronts thru with some hit or miss moisture over the weekend. Further north may be a different scenario.

This ridging should keep up relatively warm and dry until a system is able to penetrate this ridging and this does not look to occur until the day 8-10 time frame.
