Tropical Depression #2

The invest formerly known as 96 L. After being at work for most of the evening i came home to find this Infrared..

A tropical depression? Well if you consider a low pressure area with no convection on the north side, no convection on the west side and no convection on the south side..then i guess it would be a tropical depression. This has to be the worst looking tropical depression that I have ever seen in the tropics.

As of this writing at 4:10 AM there is some (limited) convection starting to the south..However..diurnal max is not having all that much of an effect on TD 2. The best convergence and divergence is to the east of the system and the system at last check was not in the best vorticity and shear as of 6 Z appears to be along the order of 20 knots or greater covering the eastern half of the system. The one side that has had some convection.

Now this above is the latest Infrared and you can see that the convection that was on the eastern side is also now subsiding..so aside from a little convection to the south now showing up..we basically have a tropical depression void of any convection.

I really do not see any evidence via satellite that this is a TD but NHC has named it as such.

Real Wx Services will continue to watch this thru out the course of the day to see if there is any signs of any organization or strengthening but as of the writing of this at 4:21 AM ..R.W.S puts the chances of this becoming a tropical storm at 20 %.
