Thoughts on Severe for Today the 11th

Keep in mind when looking at the above image from the storm prediction center that they originally did not have Eastern PA in a slight risk on there day 2 outlook and they had the slight risk as far west as western Ohio. We stated on our Facebook RWS page that we vehemently disagreed with this outlook and how far west it was and that they would end up moving further east. So it took to the day of to actually see what we saw a couple days back.

Now we run into potentially another problem with severe chances today.

As you can see by the above current satellite picture there is a lot of low hanging clouds across the area. This is because of the MCS that moved thru E PA around 4 AM bringing with it some heavy rain and non severe thunderstorms.

So, if this cloud debris does not burn off then several things are likely as a result:

1. The temperatures may not rise into the 80s as forecasted.

2. It will keep the area from destabalizing

So these very things could end up hindering the severe chances in the east and let the severe chances occur back further to the west from OK and points to the North etc like on the severe zone we issued.

If the sun does break out then indeed things could destabalize and we could then be looking at severe potential but with only damaging winds and large hail as the threats involved.

So keep an eye to the sky and lets see if the thinking above ends up being correct in reference to hindering the chances!
