R.W.S Upgrade to LEVEL 3 ALERT!

Time: 3:45 AM

Date: 1/10/11

Areas covered : Eastern PA…SE PA De, Extreme Eastern MD, All of NJ, SE NY, into Southern New England.

Real Wx Services is upgrading to a Level 3 RUH ROH . This means that a significant storm is likely within the next 24-48 hrs.

Low pressure will be just over or south of the western Florida panhandle by morning. This low will then begin to make the turn up the eastern seaboard in the monday to tuesday time frame so that by wed at 00z ..there will be a secondary on the coast around Hatteras with a primary low over the SE Ohio & SW PA border. This primary then will transfer its energy to the secondary which will cause this storm to intensify rapidly and move up along the eastern Seabpard.

At this point and time there is still some uncertainty to the exact track and timing of the transfer to the secondary. If the NAM has the correct idea then the H5 low will close off about 6 hrs before the other guidance and this would tuck the low in closer to the coast which would send heavier precipitation further west.

As it stands currently the heaviest will be in Eastern PA to NJ into SNE ..where those locations could see upwards of a foot.

jan11-13

This storm has the potential to lay down some heavy snow and roadways will become snow covered and slippery! Stay tuned for further information on this developing winter storm & for more information on its exact tract.

Note on the area of QPF to the west that is due to the primary in addition to upslope!
