Earl is slowly moving away from Hatteras though the coastal areas still continue to see rain and winds. Earl actually ended up being on the right hand side of National Hurricane Centers track..
Contrary to what some may be thinking it is really not shear that is causing Earl to weaken.. Shear is only around 10 Knots
Instead I believe it can be clearly contributed to the colder water temperatures.
