Former Gaston Still Not Leaving An Impression

While the invest formerly known as GASTON has dropped 1 MB in pressure to 1008 over the last 24 hours..there still remains little convection associated with this system. The convection comes in bursting pulses but has not been able to sustain itself. I believe it is the one thing that is keeping this system from once again becoming a depression.

Shear is once again only between 10-20 knots which again is not detrimental to a system developing but this shear is in combination with the system being surrounded by dry air

and this dry air is being ingested into its circulation. Never the less it is approaching the leeward islands rapidly. And despite not being classified, this system will still bring heavy rains and gusty winds to the Leeward Islands.

So if you live on any of these Islands you may want to keep an eye on this system for any future development. Right now I think the best track will take this to the south of Hispaniola and Cuba.

Real Wx Services is still keeping the chances of this developing into a Tropical Storm again at 40% .

It must be noted that the Global models such as the ECM still do not really develop this system. Will have to see what land interaction occurs as to whether this will maintain itself across the islands and then end up in the E Caribbean.
