Earlier yesterday I mentioned about weakening at which that time i clearly was weakening…and an increase in shear which could cause even further unraveling-but would it? That was yet to be determined and somehow IGOR found a way to actually thrive with the increased shear..Could be attributed to the anti cyclone making the shear of little to no effect and then not actually going thru any ERC.
In all reality shear is still increasing …
And this has been the general picture all day. Yet IGOR has defied the odds and has come within the realms of being on the brink of becoming a Cat 5 hurricane.. Instead of further weakening ..it strengthened.. Whether or not it was a CAT 5 we will not know under post analysis after the season is over.
As far as track of the system it is still on the center plot line that National Hurricane Center has laid out which means that its basically heading WNW to NW.
IGOR should pass to the north of the islands pretty much as we have been forecasting..Latest models (00z) show this still having no effect on the East Coast..However..
Bermuda itself is a different story and at this point and time Real Wx Services is issuing a Hurricane Watch for Bermuda.
